Action : The Final Advance in Artois 

The Final Advance in Artois occured 2nd October - 11th November 1918. Concurrently with the advances in the Somme and Arras sectors the First and Fifth British Armies continued the advance and chase the Germans back towards the Belgian border.

Probate "FERNE Gordon Bent of 35 Trossachs-road East Dulwich Surrey lieutenant 1st Canadian Motor Machine Gun brigade died 10 October 1918 in France Administration (with Will) London 21 May to Lily Violet Ferne spinster. Effects £112 6s. 6d."

Flickr Comment: "Alan Livingstone MacLeod Robert Fortune Inch was the luckiest of three officers of the 1st Canadian Motor Machine Brigade killed or wounded near Cambrai October 10, 1918. Lieut. David Livingstone was killed instantly, Lieut. Gordon Bent Ferne died of wounds. Livingstone and Berne lie in adjacent war graves at Haynecourt British Cemetery near Cambrai."
