Detail :
Charles ADAMS was lost on the SS Pundit on 9 June 1918 whilst on passage to Alexandria, to submarine action. The ship was lost. The steamer was torpedoed and sunk in the Mediterranean 85 miles W.N.W. from Alexandria by the German submarine UB-105 (captained by Wilhelm Marschall) whilst on a voyage from Tyne to Alexandria with a cargo of coal. 6 were lost including Master - 2 of these being Freemasons. The SS Pundit was owned by the Asiatic Steam Navigation Co. Ltd., Liverpool, 5.917 grt, launched 1902.
UB-105 was broken up at Felixstowe in 1922 after surrender of the vessel in 1919, but having sunk 25 ships and 1 warship in the latter half of the Great War.
