Natural causes is attributed those deaths due to causes that were not directly associated with the war. Included in this are wartime deaths resulting from, for example, theSpanish Influenza pandemic and its associated pneumonia problems and other attributions such as age and exhaustion. It also groups those who through Post Traumatic Stress committed suicide as a result of their experiences.

Most likely the John Hackett who died of illness whilst aboard "Nimrod" on 10th October 1918.
John's service medals came up for auction at DNW on 21st September 2007, a collection being sold by BRIGADIER BRIAN PARRITT, C.B.E. The notes accompanying the sale show:
"John Hackett was born on 3 March 1893, the son of Rev. John Hackett, D.D., Chaplain to the Forces. On 15 September 1905 he entered Dartmouth, aged 12 years and on 15 May 1910 was commissioned a Midshipman. His first ship was the Prince of Wales, after which he served on the Argyll, Centurion and Invincible. He was promoted to Acting Sub-Lieutenant on 15 September 1912, Sub-Lieutenant on 15 May 1913 and attained the rank of Lieutenant on 15 October 1914. The advent of war saw him serving aboard the battleship Britannia, January-October 1914, followed by services on the armoured cruiser Leviathan, October 1914-December 1915; the dreadnought battleship Royal Sovereign, April 1916-January 1917, and finally the destroyer leader Nimrod on which he served from January 1917. Lieutenant Hackett died from Pneumonia following on from Influenza on 10 October 1918. He was buried in the churchyard of St. Candida and Holy Cross at Whitchurch Canonicorum. Sold with copied service paper and other research."
Northampton Chronicle and Echo 15 October 1918 - "We regret to announce the death of Lieut. John Hackett, R.N., son of Mrs. Hackett, 16, King-street, Portman-square, London, and of the late Rev. John Hackett. D.D., chaplain to the Forces and rector of Orlingbury."
