The contribution record of the lodge in the Ledgers at the United Grand Lodge of England show that Leonard was a Licensed Victualler at Whitstable upon his initiation in 1915. He did not get an opportunity for higher degrees, as his record shows an almost immediate war service from 1916 to 1918 which is followed by "Died while Prisoner of War," which is contradicted by the official record.
