France & Flanders covers all the dates and corresponding locations which are outside the official battle nomenclature dates on the Western Front. Therefore the actions in which these men died could be considered 'normal' trench duty - the daily attrition losses which were an everyday fact of duty on the Western Front.
He enlisted 22nd September, 1914 shortly after the commencement of war and transitted to England with 1st Canadian Expeditionary Force and served in France as Private until 1915, when he received a commission.

Edward was a 32 year old Lieutenant serving with the Canadian Expeditionary Force and located at Shorncliffe at the time of his initiation into Temple Lodge No. 558 in 1918. He advanced no higher than that of Entered Apprentice. There are two comments against his line, one that he "Died ??? /18" and also after contribution of 8s. that he "Died November 1919."
Discrepancies (Require checks, clarity or further research) :
The masonic record shows aged 32 in 1918, whereas Canadian WM shows Edward aged 29 at time of death. This is the only Edward Jeffrey which fits some, but not all of the facts.
