De Ruvigny's: JENKINS, WILLIAM HAVELOCK, Chief Engineer, Royal Naval Reserve, 3rd s. of William Ewart Jenkins, late Manager of the Pitwood Department for Messrs. Watts, Watts & Co., Cardiff, by his wife, Emma, dau, of (-) Robers, of Machen, co. Glamorgan; and great-gdson of the late Rev. John Jenkins, D.D.; b. Cardiff, co. Glamorgan, 9 June 1886; educ. Monkton House School there: was employed at the dry docks, Cardiff; volunteered for active service on the outbreak of war in Aug. 1914, and joined the Royal Naval Reserve; served on H.M.S. Lydie for Aug. 1916, and was lost when that ship was sunk by a torpedo off Falmouth 9 Feb. 1918. His Captain wrote: "His was a hero's life and a hero's death in the service of his country and of humanity." He m. at Tredegarville Baptist Chapel, Cardiff, 14 July, 1915, Mabel, 3rd dau. of Daniel Fraser Lumsden, of Melbourne; s.p."
