George Archibald Sinclair Kennedy was born in Dipton, 3rd January 1882, to father Thomas Sinclair Kennedy and mother, Hephzibah Kennedy, nee Bradley. His parents had married in South Shields in 1874. He had 7 sisters.His pre-service life showed him as a a fitter.

Naval Campaign is defined as to include all sea operations where attrition rates are in ones and twos and which do not fall within specific naval battles such as Jutland, Coronel, Falklands etc. This includes Merchant Navy losses.
Detail :
On 7th April 1917, he was serving on HMS Jason, a minesweeper and ex-torpedo gunboat. It was mined and sunk near Coll Island off the west coast of Scotland. George and 24 other crew members were lost. His body was not recovered for burial and he is honoured on the Chatham Naval Memorial.
George Archibald Sinclair Kennedy was awarded the 1914-15 Star, the Victory Medal and the British War Medal for his service in World War One.
