Detail :
There are multiple instances of the name of KERR, Alexander:
1. Chief Engineer Artificer, HMS Cressy d.22.9.1914. This is not him - our man died in 1917 and not aboard the ill-fated and already sunk Cressy. Son of Robert Kerr, of Renfrew; husband of E. S. Kerr, of Rodono, Loanhead, Midlothian.
2. Act Ch. E.R.A, HMS Lucia d.12.3.1917. This is closer to the date in the masonic record, but this sailor did not serve aboard HMS Wivern in 1911.
Masonic :

Initiated | Passed | Raised |
9th October 1911 | 8th November 1911 | 9th April 1912 |
Alexander is listed as an E.R.A., Engine Room Artificer, aboard H.M.S. Wivern and aged 28 upon his initiation into United Service Lodge No. 1341, Hong Kong. His contribution record shows not explicit war service, but shows 'a' for absence/arrears in 1915. He is shown last to contribute in 1917, until the last comment shows "Killed in Action 13/8/1917."
