He enlisted on the 25th August 1914, but was discharged as unfit for duty on the 18th February 1917. He was a recipient of the Silver War Badge, No 31414 issued on the 22nd February 1917.

He is buried in South Ealing Cemetery, London, Grave Reference H.M.21
