De Ruvigny's Volume 5 - "MEARS, FRANCIS PEEL, Capt., Royal Army Service Corps, eldes s. of the late T. Lambert Mears, M.A., LL.D., of Regent's Park, N.W., Barrister-at-law, by his wife, Alice Catherine, dau, of I.H. Westcar Peel; b. London, 31 May 1876; gazetted 2nd Lieut. Royal Garrison Artillery; served some time, and was invalided out of the Service in 1904; took Holy Orders the same year; volunteered for active service on the outbreak of war, and was gazetted Lieut. A.S.C. in 1914; served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders, and subsequently in Macedonia; returned home in April 1918, and proceeded to Ireland, where he served until he died at King George V, Military Hospital, Dublin, 22 Feb. 1919, of Macedonian malaria and pneumonia, contracted whilst on active service. Buried in Sydenham, S.E. He m. in 1902, Mabel Fitzroy, dau. of Dr. Ellis, and had a son, Francis Ronald Lambert, b. in 1903."
