Natural causes is attributed those deaths due to causes that were not directly associated with the war. Included in this are wartime deaths resulting from, for example, theSpanish Influenza pandemic and its associated pneumonia problems and other attributions such as age and exhaustion. It also groups those who through Post Traumatic Stress committed suicide as a result of their experiences.

Detail :

Hugh was the son of Captain Hugh and Laura Jones Morris of Glyndwr, Barmouth. He served with the Mercantile Marine about the Elder Dempster steamship SS Benue. Whilst the ship was anchored at Sierra Leone in September, 1918, Hugh became ill and died 16th September, 1918, aged 35. His brother John was killed at Mametz Wood in 1916.

His father was a Freemason of the same lodge,

Probate MORRIS Hugh Cynhaiarn of Glyndwr Barbouth [sic] Merionethshire fourth officer in ss. Benue died 16 September 1918 at Sierra Leone West Africa Administration St. Asaph 11 January to Hugh Morris master mariner (retired). Effects £113 11s. 9d.
