We regret to announce the death, yesterday, at his residence in College Road, Whalley Range, of the Rev. Samuel Morrison, from illness contracted whilst on military service. Mr. Morrison was well known in Manchester as a Presbyterian minister. Irish by birth and training, he was ordained at Darlington in 1896 and occupied a pulpit there until he came to Manchester, in 1908, as minister of the Whalley Range Presbyterian Church. In 1914 he became chaplain at Heaton Park, and in the following year he accepted a full chaplaincy in the Army and resigned his pastoral charge to take over duties at Tidworth, where he became very popular with the men in training. He was a man of considerable gifts, and he possessed a genial spirit and happy nature which won for him troops of friends who will sympathise with his widow and two daughters. The funeral will take place at the Southern Cemetery on Wednesday, the service being held at the Whalley Range Presbyterian Church."
