Family :
Henry is born at Hythe Kent c.1877, son of Charles Rice, a Carpenter, and Catherine (nee Godfrey). His siblings are John Henry Charles (b.1867), Edward James (b.1869), Catherine (b.1873-d.1886), Charles Rice (b.1865-d.1915), Flora (b.1880).In 1881, all the family are seen resident at the Bell Inn, Hythe Kent where had three guest lodgers in the pub at the time of the census.
By 1891, have moved to Nelson Villa, Hythe where Henry's youngest sister, Emma Elizabeth now appears aged 7, having been born late 1883. She was to become a beneficiary of Henry's estate. Only Charles, Flora and Elizabeth are still living with their parents at this time.
His brother Charles who also worked for P&O on the SS Persia died at sea 30th December, 1915.

Probate NELSON Henry of Nelson Villa Seabrook-road Hythe Kent died 31 May 1918 at Alexandra Egypt Probate London 27 July to Emma Elizabeth Nelson and Julia May Evenden spinsters. Effects £2541 13s. 6d.
The inscription on the family grave at St. Leonard's Church, Hythe at reads "Also/Henry Nelson/late of P&O SS Kaisar-I-Hind/who died of pneumonia 31st May 1918/in hospital at Alexandria/aged 41 years.

Listed as a 26 year old Ship's Steward resident of Hythe at the time of his initiation in 1903 into Castle Lodge at Sandgate, Kent. The contribution register shows that he "Died 31st May/18." The 1921 book describes him as "Nelson, Henry - Naval."
