Detail :

PRINCESS MAUD SS was a 1,566grt defensively-armed British Passenger/Cargo Steamer built built by Napier & Miller Yoker, Port Glasgow (Yard No 121), for M. Langlands & Co., Glasgow; In 1916 requisitioned by the Admiralty as a 'Fleet Messenger', but in 1918 returned to owners prior to loss. The vessel appears to have been fitted with hidden deck guns (Q-Ship?); On 10th June 1918, torpedoed and sunk 5 miles NE by N, from Blyth, when on passage from London for Leith by the UB-88, captained by Reinhard von Rabenau; Of the 29 crew, 5 were saved. 3 lives lost.
