Note: There are two A.H.Rodgers who died close together in 1918. One is a Lancastrian who was badged Machine Gun Corps, whereas this record weights towards the Artilleryman.

In 1917, at the time of his initiation he is recorded as being resident at Forest Row, a temporary Army Training Camp near East Grinstead. Listed as 28 years of age and an Non-Commissioned Officer of the Royal Field Artillery. The contribution record show two years of absence 1919-20 followed by "Died." Clearly the lodge were not aware of his fate at the time.
