David: 10010 Lance Serjeant SAUNDERS John Davis Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) 13th Company Formerly 22245 Liverpool Regiment The son of Alexander and Rhoda Saunders he was born at Liverpool and Resided at Bromborough, Cheshire. He enlisted at Liverpool and was killed in action on the 12th February 1917 aged 36 and is Remembered on the Loos Memorial, France, Panel 136.

John is listed as a 29 year old Licensed Victualler in 1912, when he is initiated into Mersey Lodge. The contribution record shows that he was "Killed in France 11th Feb '17." He became a founder member of the James Thompson Lodge No. 3653, also at Birkenhead, at its consecration in 1913. In the register he is shown "Killed in Action," but date unknown.
