Detail :
SENIOR, Harold, Company Quartermaster Sergeant, 1/6 South Staffordshire Regiment The lodge minutes for 12th June 1914 state A ballot was taken for Mr Harold Senior, age 27 years, a clerk in the office of the County Council of Northallerton. He enlisted into the Army in Northallerton and died of wounds. A card distributed by his widow thanking people for their expressions of sympathy suggested that 'he died of gas poisoning in France'; By this time of the war it would probably have been mustard gas - a particularly unpleasant variant.
