In the ledgers of the United Grand Lodge of England he is noted to be John "Mason" Sharp, whilst on the 1940 Scroll he is shortened to Sharp, John M. E.R.A., R.N. The contribution register shows three years war service 1916-18, but followed by the comment "Died 1917 date unknown." There is an annotation for an additional lodge joined - Royal Standard Lodge No.398.
