M.2968 Sick Berth Steward 2nd Class Arthur Maurice Spurgeon, Royal Navy. Died of pneumonia following influenza in the 7th British Hospital, Port Said.

He enlisted 10th April, 1911 and spent his early career training at HMS Pembroke and Victory I before taking his first posting at the Royal Naval Hospital at Haslar. In addition to training and shore based establishments he served on HMS Albion, HMS Ganges (Harwich), HMS Implacable, HMS Egmont and HMS Duke, the latter of which were part of the Royal Naval Division at Port Said.
