Early Life :
Born Bow (Stepney), London 22nd February, 1882.Resident 27 Gold Street, Mile End, Old Town London(1891), 7 Swaton Road, Bromley (by Bow) (1901) and 141 Invicta Road, Sheerness, Kent (1911). There is also reference to 317 Brunswick Road, Poplar, East London on the Seaman's record.
Family :
Married Katherine Jane Greaves (b.1885-d.1975), 20th July 1907. They had one son, Edward (b.1912-d.1990).Katherine, latterly resident at 41 Wilmot Road, Leyton, Essex.

Detail :
Between 1916 and 1917, he entered Submarine Service as his death recorded on the 3rd January 1918 is whilst aboard HMS Submarine G8.
"Her last patrol began from Tees on 27 December 1917, leaving with the submarine HMS G12 and the destroyer HMS Medea for the Kattegat. She was ordered to start her voyage back on 3 January 1918 or possibly 48 hours later, returning to Tees on or around 6 January 1918. She did not return and was never heard from again. She was officially declared missing on 14 January 1918. The cause remains unknown, but it is believed she may have hit a mine in the North Sea." [Royal Navy Submarine Museum]

The Seaman's register records he was entioned in Dispatches twice (dated around 12.1.1917 for Submarine Service). He was further awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, gazetted 2.11.17. The record further shows "Lost on Duty"Masonic :
