Major Edmund Arthur Swinhoe was born on the 3rd July 1870, the son Of William Swinhoe, solicitor, Of Calcutta; India.Education & Career :
He attended Cheltenham College between 1883 and 1897, from where he was accepted at the Royal Military College Sandhurst.

Natural causes is attributed those deaths due to causes that were not directly associated with the war. Included in this are wartime deaths resulting from, for example, theSpanish Influenza pandemic and its associated pneumonia problems and other attributions such as age and exhaustion. It also groups those who through Post Traumatic Stress committed suicide as a result of their experiences.
He later transferred to the Indian Army, serving with the Supply & Transport Corps and was promoted Lieutenant in 1892, Captain in 1900 and Major in 1907.
He took part in operations relating to the Boxer rebellion in China in 1900, receiving the campaign medal and was in Somaliland between 1902-1904 for which he was awarded the medal with clasp.
On the outbreak Of war he was on leave in England and went to France with drafts for a short period before returning to his unit in India where he served for the remainder Of the conflict.
