Unit / Ship / Est.: SS Huntstrick 

SS Huntstrick, built by Workman, Clark & Co. Ltd., Belfast in 1902 and owned at the time of her loss by F. C. Strick & Co. Ltd., London, was a British steamer of 8151 tons. On June 8th, 1917,

Huntstrick, on a voyage from London to Salonica with a cargo of government stores and troops, was sunk by the German submarine U-39 (Walter Forstmann), 80 miles WNW from Cape Spartel. 15 persons were lost.

Note: Together with Huntstrick, the motor launches ML-540 and ML-541 she was carrying, were also lost.

Action : Naval Campaign 

Naval Campaign is defined as to include all sea operations where attrition rates are in ones and twos and which do not fall within specific naval battles such as Jutland, Coronel, Falklands etc. This includes Merchant Navy losses.

He was 5th Officer aboard SS Huntstrick, Mercantile Marine. This ship was torpedoed on 8th June 1917

In the records of United Grand Lodge it perhaps reveals an error with the passing and raising date, which could only be corrected by the Lodge records. In the same 1910-1921 volume, it shows "Ship Sunk"
