Born Dunedin City, Otago, New Zealand to John Ross and Margaret Swan Holmes of 13A Main South Road, Caversham, Dunedin, New Zealand. In the pre-war period he was employed as a Photo Engraver.Service Life:

Although many perished in times of national conflict and in the service of their country, many more survived including those interned as Prisoners of War. He is commemorated by his service at the Auckland Museum Online Cenotaph.

Percy was already recorded as having been on war service when he was initiated into Dunedin Lodge in 1917, which is shown in the Lodge's contribution record. Following the war he goes into a state of arrears/absence, so not clear if he continued in the Craft after 1921.
