The medal rolls show that he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.
He died, aged 36 and is interred at Bromley Cemetery, Bromley, Christchurch City, Canterbury, New Zealand.

Listed as a 24 year old accountant from Christchurch in 1913 at the time of his initiation into Conyers Lodge. He appears not to have advanced any further than that of Fellowcraft. The contribution register shows war service in the 1916 column, but a continuation of his dues up to at least 1921.
