Early Life :
Born Lenton, Nottinghamshire c.1892, son of Elizabeth and William Archibald Appleton. In 1911 he was 19 and working as a Bookkeeper/Clerk whilst living with family at The Laurels, Kelvedon Common, Brentwood.By 1939, he was living with his wife at 105 Hankinson Road, Bournemouth and working as a Cleansing Inspector.
