Although many perished in times of national conflict and in the service of their country, many more survived including those interned as Prisoners of War. Stories of those who did survive are included as part of this site, especially those with high gallantry awards, those included against an external rolls of honour and those who had a distinguished career in wartime and military leaderhip.

[Royal Standard Lodge:] He served with the Royal Canadian Garrison Artillery, Canadian Expeditionary Force in No. 6 Artillery Depot, Halifax NS, service number #1274421. He had prior service of 3 years: 1903-1906 Royal Canadian Regiment, 3 years, 2mos 1st Canadian Garrison Artillery, born in Halifax on 20 February 1878, he did not serve overseas, he was a Railway Checker living at 10 Alexander Place, Halifax NS. He died of Acute Alcoholism at Victoria General Hospital on 2 May 1928, and was buried at (RC) Holy Cross Cemetery, Halifax NS, he was the son of Matthew Campbell and Annie Bakes?

The names of those brethren who fell are taken from the monument formerly located in the foyer of the Masonic Hall on Barrington Street, which now resides in the banquet room of the Masonic Hall on Coronation Avenue in Halifax, NS.
