Probate Record: DAVIES, Stephen of Park View, Park Road, Whitchurch, Glamorganshire - Lance Corporal, Royal Engineers Regiment of H.M. Army. Died 9th January 1918 at Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire. Administration Llandaff 23rd May to Lilian Davies, widow. Effects £1826 3s 7d.
He is recorded initially as having died at Newport Pagnell from heart failure whilst serving with the Fenny Stratford Signal Depot at Bletchley, Bedfordshire, however a letter from Lilian, his wife shows that an the results of an inquest on 14th January 1918, gave a verdict that the cause was pneumonia contracted whilst on active military service. R.E. Chatham records show that he was buried in Cardiff.
