Early Life :
Born c.Q4 1876, the 6th child and 2nd son of Mrs. Frances and the late Dr. Henry Dodgson, of Cockermouth, Cumberland; The census of 1881 shows an extensive family with many brothers and sisters, but by 1891 he is resident as a boarder at the West Green Grammar School at Pocklington, Yorkshire. By 1908 he was resident at Derwent House, Cockermouth and acting as a Land Agent (1911).Family :
Siblings: Grace Elizabeth. (b.1868), Janet Mary (b.1870), Frances Isabel (b.1871), Henry (b.1873), Mabel Jane (b1876), Edith Marian (b.1878) Lilian Louise (b.1880) and Margaret Octavia (b.1881)He married Annie (nee Ritson) of Ridgemount, Maryport, Cumberland in the early part of 1913.

9 April - 29 April 1918. As the first phase of the great German campaign of 1918 lost momentum and failed in its objective to split the British and French armies, subsidiary attacks were shift the balance of the attack and to seek opportunities to exploit other sectors. On the Lys the Germans initially enjoyed spectacular success against a Portuguese Division but the gap was soon plugged and the advance halted.

The record shows that he died of illness at 54th Casualty Clearing Station in France on 3rd May 1918.
