Detail :
The SS Vasco was on a voyage from Hull to Naples with general cargo and a crew of 17. She struck a mine in the English Channel, 10 miles W by S off Beachy Head and sank.All the crew were lost including its Chief Engineer, Walter Ramsey, who was a member of the Humber Lodge No 57. The mine was laid by German U-boat UC16.
