Detail :

CSM. Charles Aubin Legros, MM. 13th Bn. Canadian Infantry (Quebec Regt.). Killed in Action 1st October 1918. Age 33.

He enlisted, as a Sergeant, having served for 10 months in the 100th Winipeg Grenadiers, into the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force on 2nd July 1915. His attestation paper shows his next of kin as his Mother, residing at 8 Capel Road, Colchester, Essex. He was 5 foot 7 inches tall, 40 inch chest, light complexion, Grey Eyes and light brown hair, and considered fit for service. By the end of September 1918 the Canadians were threatening Cambrai and the Germans were resisting fiercely but the Canadians continued to push hard and it is likely that Charles was killed in the fighting around Bl-court. Charles does not have a grave and is commemorated on the Canadian Memorial to the Missing at Vimy Ridge.
