Early Life :
Son of Thomas Joseph, a publican, and Rachel Anne Allcock, of 57 Hyde Road, Manchester. Later resident at 8, Oak Drive, Denton Manchester. Joseph was baptised 5th November, 1893 at the Parish Church (Saint Marks), West Gorton, Lancashire.By 1911, Joseph was employed as a Brewery Clerk, living at home at 53 Hyde Road. His younger brother is a 16 year old Warehouse Assistant and his Auntie and 2 cousins are living with them, the latter assisting in running the pub. Within the coming years, Joseph becomes a Gents Outfitter in West Gorton.

The Final Advance in Artois occured 2nd October - 11th November 1918. Concurrently with the advances in the Somme and Arras sectors the First and Fifth British Armies continued the advance and chase the Germans back towards the Belgian border.

2nd Lieutenant Joseph Allcock, 54th Brigade - Royal Garrison Artillery, Attached Royal Engineers Signals. Killed in Action near Cambrai, France.
He started his military life as 69253 Gunner Allcock of the Royal Garrison Artllery. He disembarked in France 11th October, 1916.
Probate ALLCOCK Joseph of 26 Mahood-street Stockport Cheshire died 3 November 1919 Probate London 5 December to Susannah Allcock widow Samuel Allcock mill warper Mary Alice Morten (wife of Charles Thomas Morten) and Thomas Bruce retired mill manager. Effects £1789 4s. 9d.
For his service in the Great War he was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

Joseph is listed as a 21 year old Gents Outfitter resident at West Gorton in 1915 at the time of his initiation into Lodge of Faith No. 581 at Openshaw, Manchester. He received his Grand Lodge Certificate 4th May, 1915. The contribution register shows three years of war service (1915-1918) before the note that he was "Killed in Action 16th Oct 1918."
