Born 7th child of Henry and Elizabeth Allden about 1856. In 1861, he had one older sister and 5 older brothers and was with the family at home in Level Street, Kingswinford, Brierley Hill.Married Agnes Alice Shakespear 14th August 1892

1/5th Battalion August 1914 : in Walsall. Part of Staffordshire Brigade in North Midland Division. Moved to Luton area and in November 1914 went on to Bishops Stortford. Landed at Le Havre 3 March 1915. 12 May 1915 : formation became the 137th Brigade, 46th (North Midland) Division. January 1916 : moved to Egypt, returning to France next month. |

Natural causes is attributed those deaths due to causes that were not directly associated with the war. Included in this are wartime deaths resulting from, for example, theSpanish Influenza pandemic and its associated pneumonia problems and other attributions such as age and exhaustion. It also groups those who through Post Traumatic Stress committed suicide as a result of their experiences.
- Commissioned as 2nd Lt into 6th Staffordshire Battery RFA (TF), 2nd North Midland Brigade RFA (TF) on 15th May 1908
- Promoted Lt on 6th May 1909
- November 1910 transferred from 6th Staffordshire Battery RFA (TF), to 2nd North Midland Brigade RFA (TF) Ammunition Column. The new OC arrived at the same time - Lt Col C C Leveson-Gower (Yes same family)
- 27th January 1912 resigned his commission
- 5th November 1914 to be Quarter Master and honorary Lt, 5th Battalion the South Staffordshire Regiment (TF)
- 13th August 1916 transferred as Quarter Master and honorary Lt the Territorial Force Reserve
- 9th January 1918 relinquished his commission due to ill health

Birmingham Daily Gazette 26th June 1918 "Lieut. John Allden died in 1918 and never saw the end of the war. A compassionate man, there is a memorial to him inside St Michael’s Church and his name is on the Church Hill war memorial."
