Discrepancies (Require checks, clarity or further research) :
In the 1921 Book, Masonic Roll of Honour 1914-1918 it shows listed under the banner of Wallsend Lodge No. 2703, "ARMSTRONG, Joseph Wm, Private" and also as "Armstrong J.W." in the index at Part II. On the 1933 Scroll, it is repeated as ARMSTRONG, Joseph W. This discrepancy, however, causes immediate concern when, in the records of United Grand Lodge of England, he is found as John William Armstrong and not as Joseph. No other Armstrong can be found in the Lodge for the time period.
The annotation in Grand Lodge records show that John W. Armstrong was "killed in action", which lays credence that John William Armstrong is the intended casualty.
