Mike: HMS Berwick was a Monmouth-class armoured cruiser of the British Royal Navy. She was launched on 20 September 1902. In 1908 she collided with the destroyer HMS Tiger when the destroyer crossed Berwick's bows during an exercise in the English Channel, south of the Isle of Wight. Tiger was sliced in two and sank with the loss of 28 lives. She served in the First World War with most of her sisters, and survived to be sold for scrap on 1 July 1920. Berwick was eventually towed to Hamburg on 28 August 1920 to be broken up. |
